The Story Behind the Image - Ep. 003

"For the Love of Life, Art and Memories"

I am grateful that my weddings span Cultures. It is exciting because LOVE, the kind that unites those in love is Universal.

This amazing Habesha Wedding, rich in African culture and tradition, spanned two full days. In the midst of family reunion and marital union, there was the Regal Grandmother of the Bride (who flew in from East Africa). I was smitten!

I know my assignment: my Bride and Groom. But how could I resist getting an elegant portrait of my Brides 90+ year old grandmother - I couldn't! With moments to spare, I waited patiently. This portrait WAS NOT POSED by the way. I just sat across the room and waited...

Within that moment, I captured a memory and a moment that will last generations. The expression and skin tone. Her wedding day attire and the texture. And the stories in her face. By far my most precious Portrait of the Year - at a spectacular wedding. Oh, wait a minute! Almost forgot. And there there was the wedding...

This beautiful bride to be, Ms. Ashley, I’ve known her since she was a little girl. And now she’s about to be married… sniff, sniff. And she’s also a “Bad-Ass” BASS Player! And this young man, Mr. Robert, is respectful, Hilarious and handsome. He’s also a Veteran of these United States! In addition, his chest is bigger than my body.

Needless to say, I am happy and excited for this Couple. Robert & Ashley… Blessings.

Wedding: John & Cheryl

I love photography, weddings and stories. My newest couple John & Cheryl gave me all three! Great images, the coolest wedding (Castaway San Bernardino) and a Love story.

A storm on Friday cleared the air for a Beautiful Saturday wedding at the Castaway Restaurant San Bernardino. Surrounded by family and friends, John & Cheryl tied the knot: and oh, how Beautiful a Bride was Cheryl.

The flowers were beautiful thanks to the wonderful designs of Flower Fairy Wings. The weather held and we had a wedding. My really cool groom John, pulls out his cell phone and shows me a prom picture from back in the day. Guess who went to Prom together in the 80's and were high school sweethearts? Yup, John & Cheryl! Just about 25 years later... they were married!

Congratulations John & Cheryl!

30 Days of Beautiful: T A R R A

Certainly, 30 Days of Beautiful is a Wondrous Campaign. I am meeting some wonderful people and some extraordinary Women. There's still room for you: CLICK HERE. Today I would like for you to meet Beautiful Tarra...

What does beauty mean to you? I can either believe I am beautiful, or I can believe I'm not. It's all about accepting my flaws, my imperfections, my short comings and accept that I'm doing the best I can. And be grateful everyday for the chance to wake up fresh, learn from my mistakes and be the best I can be. It's not easy and sometimes I have to remind myself of this. But in the end it's not about what's on the outside that makes you beautiful, it's all about what's on the inside.

When do you feel most beautiful? When I'm with my son and he is being a goofball. I see he is just like me and it makes me smile so BIG! It is then that I feel most beautiful.

What does being a woman mean to you? Being kind, compassionate, having style and grace.

Tell me your story: I'm a 37 year old single mother of two crazy boys. I've been raising both boys on my own and have held the same career for almost 16 years. I've been through more struggles, more heartache and more empty bank accounts than I care to remember. But by the Grace of GOD I have awakened: I've been a mommy, I've been a manager and am a Woman daily.

What do you think was the biggest turning point in your life? Accepting that my happiness comes from no one but myself.

Please finish the statement – I am a person who: Believes in herself.

Tell me about a goal you are working on: I'm at a turning point in my life. I've made a decision to change careers after 16 years. It's exciting and it scares me.

What do you love about yourself? My sense of humor.

Maternity Shoot

We had an unconventional location and a few brief moments to produce an image worthy of "The Wall". I assert that this is what Wedding Photography will teach you: how to produce hang-able Art in a few moments with minimal equipment.

My clients were troopers!
